We are currently on Stage 3 lock down for Covid-19 in Victoria which means there are only a few reasons we can go outside: to shop for food and other necessary goods and services To access medical services or provide caregiving. For example, this includes shared parenting obligations or providing care and support to an unwell, disabled, elderly or pregnant friend or relative. to attend work or education (where you can’t do those things remotely) for exercise You may also leave you home in an emergency or if required by...

Along with every other event, April Fools Day is cancelled this year. Google announced that they would not be promoting any April Fools Day gags this year as it was insensitive. To be honest, I think it is because no one knows what to believe at the moment. Nothing would be considered as not being a possibility at the moment. I only saw one post on Facebook with an AFD joke. The comments where divided: some appreciated the humour, whilst others found it insensitive and wasn't well received at all. We have to...

Each day brings new rules and guidelines. The one thing that I thought wouldn't change is the opportunity to exercise. Last night it was announced that tennis courts and club rooms are now also subject to closure. I totally understand shutting down gyms and swimming pools but am not sure how closing tennis courts will help with flattening the curve. Surely a hit of tennis between family members (who even sleep in the same bed) should still be allowed? When listening to our Prime Minister Scott Morrison at his public address on...

A famous quote from the popular TV series in the 1950's called Dragnet was "Just the facts, ma'am". I am going to use this going forward. My news feed is depressing and I am no longer sure what is true or hypothetical or just a blatant lie. Normally I like to live in my little bubble. The issue with that is that it can just take one pin prick for the whole thing to burst. So instead I am going to keep informed, but I am going to get the facts...

Today is Monday and the start of a new week. This is officially week 9 of Term 1 for my children. The school announced that they would be finishing last Friday. Today is the day where the teachers learn how to teach our children remotely and then plunge head first into it tomorrow. My two boys (year 10 and year 7) will be fine. They are sponges and can absorb anything that is presented to them - in any form - digital, face to face, audio, visual etc. My daughter, however is...

My working week consists of me working on my computer for pretty much 90% of each work day. I thank my Year 8 business studies teacher for teaching me how to touch type. I also know all of the keyboard short cuts, with one of my favourites being Ctrl+Z...

How do you do social distancing when we want to be social? Last night at the supermarket, I ran into a friend. We were having a lovely chat at the end of the isle until we heard a 'humph' from a fellow shopper. Her bags were full and I immediately thought that her bags must have been too heavy or she hurt her back. So in response I asked if she was okay. Her answer was something that I was shocked at. She said "you need to move". Her anxiety...

I bloody love Aussies. If there was a rating for humour, our country would be top of the charts. Here are some great examples of how we try to see the funny side even in shit circumstances. Keep being funny please guys. Tom Hanks doesn't know how to eat Vegemite A couple of weeks ago Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson were confirmed to have COVID-19 whilst they were in Australia. Hanx (as he affectionately likes to be referred) used Instagram to post about his experience, and to perhaps give people...

What do you mean they are going to shut down the fresh food and vegetable market? Surely not. This was heard straight from someone who owns a fresh food shop and when I heard it, I had to ask her again if she was serious. I can live without toilet paper, but I can't live without fresh food. Luckily I know where I can sauce (pun intended) about 200 acres of tomatoes - all I need is a full tank of petrol. I am a big fan of 'end of the days'...
